At OSCAR, Your Mission is Our Mission. OSCAR exists to support you and the mission that God has called you to.

With a wide range of resources to keep Christian individuals and charities from having to do it all themselves, OSCAR comes alongside each one in a variety of ways.

Youth for Christ Gloucestershire found a valuable asset in their new Church Partnership Youth Worker by posting their job listing on OSCAR.

In that way, OSCAR is helping to lead the UK’s youth toward Christ!

Paul Bennett, Gloucestershire Youth for Christ’s (YFC) Director, shares how OSCAR came through for the organization in a pinch.  YFC first posted a job opening in February 2018 on Premier Jobsearch, a Christian site that has been successful in the past for finding youth workers. They received five applicants and interviewed two people without finding what they were looking for.

As a friend, Paul shared with Mike, OSCAR’s Director, the difficulty in finding someone to fill the Church Partnership Youth Worker position, Mike suggested they try OSCAR. Paul was skeptical at first as OSCAR’s prices seemed too low to offer a quality service, but he decided to try advertising through OSCAR in addition to Global Connections in June.  This time YFC received 12 applicants and interviewed three of them.  Quite a feat during a time when there are not huge numbers of people applying for Christian ministry positions.  A change, Paul notes, that has only happened in recent years.

hanna photoHannah, 28, was hired in July and started in September.  She comes from an unconventional background with a degree in English Literature and experience in banking and insurance.  Fresh off a one-year church internship in Cambridge, she was looking for a way to continue in a paid ministry position.  She saw the YFC position on OSCAR and applied. She is now responsible for managing the youth work at a local church and bases out of the YFC office to be helpful with managing the church partnership program.  Paul describes Hannah as, “bringing a steady confidence to us as an organization” and couldn’t be happier with this outcome writing “we will be using OSCAR for all our future recruitment.”

OSCAR is delighted to be helpful to Christ centered organisations in this way.  Connecting those seeking to help with charities that need support to advance the gospel of Christ is at the very heart of our mission.

YFC seeks generational transformation by seeing young people’s lives changed by Christ.  They call people to go using sport, music, and the arts to minister in schools, prisons, churches and local communities.

OSCAR stands by them, ready to help, as they demonstrate the love of God, declare who Jesus is, encourage a decision to follow Him and disciple young people to live their lives to the full.

Safeguarding in an International Context

Safeguarding is a universal responsibility, but its practical application becomes significantly more complex when working across international boundaries. Recent years have seen heightened scrutiny of charities and faith-based organisations operating overseas.
